Fashion with Power

Spring has sprung and that means the pre-Summer slim down is in full swing. But, tightening up your waistline doesn’t mean you have to toss your favorite belt, with a few household items your belt can shrink right along with you. All you need is your belt, a power drill, and an ironing board.

1) Find a drill bit that is slightly smaller than one of the current belt holes
2) Remove the ironing board cover from the corner of the board to expose the holes in the ironing board
3) Mark the place where you want to add the hole (I usually scratch it with tip of the drill bit, but you can use a pen if you like.
4) Position the belt so that the place you want to drill is over one of the holes in the ironing board
5) Drill Away! You want to press firmly, but not so hard that you break the bit.

With a little patience and some ingenuity you can that belt tight and right.

Until next time, Love you to Life!

Memorial Day: I want to start out by commemorating Memorial Day by sharing some history on the holiday’s origin. On May 1st 1865 freed slaves gathered in Charleston, SC to honor the end of the Civil War and the Union soldiers that lost their lives during the fight. Three years following the demonstration, General John Logan issued a special order that May 30, 1868 was to be set aside as a day to decorate the graves of soldiers who died in defense of our country, at the time the day was called, Decoration Day. New York was the first state to recognize the day officially and all the northern states followed suit by 1890, the Southern states refused to celebrate the day at that time. The last Monday in May was set aside to honor Memorial Day as part of the National Holiday Act of 1971. So, I would like to honor all of our servicemen & women, especially those soldiers who paid the ultimate price serving our country, as ou Who Did What Heroes of the week!

50 Cent: I want to give a tip of the hat & shout out to rapper 50 Cent, now I’m not the biggest 50 fan, but I respect a good deed when I see one. 50, who’s a native of Queens, NY returned to the borough last Friday to attend the service of 14 year D’aja Robinson, who was killed when someone shot multiple rounds into a bus, while D’aja was returning home from a friend’s birthday party. Touched by the senseless death, 50 paid for the white horse drawn carriage that carried the teen’s body during her funeral procession. The rapper also posted pictures and thoughts on his Facebook page, saying “People always try to paint negative about me I’m the most genuine and down to earth person and I don’t forget where I came from I through for baby girl by providing a horse and carriage for her.” “She was pretty, innocent and didn’t deserve to die like that R.I.P D’Asia Robinson”.

Amanda Bynes: Where is Dr. Drue & his Celebrity Rehab when you need him? Because cocaine is a heck of a drug, just ask Amanda Bynes. . . I mean, I can’t say for sure the girl is on drugs, but she acts real cracky! Amanda was arrested last Thursday after throwing a bong out of her 38th floor window, which she claims was a vase . . . that she also claims she never threw out of the window. It took our friends over at TMZ to climb up on the sub-roof to get pictures of the “vase” (and yes I’m using air quotes). The former actress was arrested for reckless endangerment and marijuana possession & spent the night in jail. Bynes has now added the NYPD to her growing list of people she intends to sue; she claims that she was sexually harassed by an officer when he allegedly slapped her va-jayjay. The NYPD deputy commissioner responded after conducting an internal investigation and found no evidence to support Byne’s story and also added that a credible civilian escorted the officers into her apartment (I’m thinking probably the building doorman or manager)and was present during the whole arrest (someone had to lock the door behind). If all of that wasn’t enough Bynes, who claims she is allergic to drugs & alcohol (which is interesting because I don’t know if I’m allergic to crack, because I’ve never tried it . . .hmmm) says that she only smokes tobacco & doesn’t understand why everyone’s on her back but no one says anything about Rihanna posting weed pics. To that I say, touché Amanda, but then again I don’t think that anyone believes “weed” is really Amanda’s problem. Somebody please come get this child . . . moving on.

Beyonce: Apparently one fan at a Beyonce’s concert in Copenhagen, Demark was ready for all the jell During a crowd participation segment while singing Irreplaceable, one young man thought “To the left” was simply directions, so after singing his part he slapped Mrs. Carter on the butt cheek to the left! Beyonce took all in stride and told him “Alright now, you keep on and I’m going to have them put you out of here.” She didn’t sound too upset and kept the show moving. Now, I’m sure there are a lot of men out there thinking . . . why didn’t I do that?

Drying Make-Up Brushes

Drying Make-Up Brushes

Ladies, we all like to keep our faces flawless when we step out for the evening, so we must take good care of our beauty tools. Brushes need to be washed regularly and to keep them in tip-top shape after you wash them make sure you dry them on a slight incline with the brush end down so that water, germs, and mildew don’t get trapped at the brush base. This will keep your brushes fresh, new, & germ free.

Until next time, Love you to Life!
